Drawing School

Completing Eye of Intuos and Lone Orc really fired me up to getting back to drawing and improving my basics drawing skills.

First thing I did was join Drawing Tutorials Online.  Very impressed with the lessons, content and community.

Areas I like to improve in and learn:
  1. Drawing human anatomy
  2. Still life  (life drawing)
  3. Landscapes and perspective
Also.  Getting back to paper .. real paper.  I'm not dumping digital.  I want to supplement it with some exercises and sketches in a sketchbook.
I already have a sketchpad and the two mechanical pencils (0.9 and a 0.5) I've used in the past and comfortable with.

I still will be doing most my work in ArtRage and that will still be my memory drawings (fantasy, etc) still I hope by working on the goals above it will improve what I have been currently doing.

Above all..

Draw .. draw .. draw.

Really going back to just sketching / drawing.  And loving it.  The new Intuos 4 is really hitting the right drawing grove right now.  So here is an Orc I'm working on.. (WIP)  This screen cap has been resized smaller for web posting.

The Snake and Spear

I seem to be going back to drawing with ArtRage and the new Wacom.  I did open in Corel Painter 12 to try out some light coloring and lighting effects.

This is a huge Frank Frazetta influence on this drawing.  I call it the Snake and Spear.

Kicking around lots of sketches

Doing lots of sketches in ArtRage on both iPad and on Mac.  Also, started one painting in ArtRage and another in Painter 12 (wanted to see how painter 12 handles).

Still nothing seems to be carrying me over from draft sketch to a final painting.  I have a few started works.

I’ll keep at it and one will jump out to be finished.
